Trekking in Nepal
Within the borders of this small Himalayan country lie 8 of the world's highest peaks including Mt Everest and some of the best trekking routes in the world. Nepal has a huge diversity of stunning and beautiful landscape, high peaks and glaciers, the deepest valleys, lush pastures, exotic and rare vegetation and wildlife, steamy jungles, arid high altitude plains, remote mountain passes, thundering rivers, shady alpine forests and the breathtaking presence of the Himalayan ranges of Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Manashu and of course Everest.
This small country has the virtual monopoly on number of the most popular trekking routes offering wonderful views or visits to the base camps used by mountaineering expeditions. The lower hill country is also very beautiful with pretty villages, attractive houses and interesting temples as well as sub-tropical lowlands, vast meadows and forests, fast flowing rivers, deep canyons and cold barren regions at the feet of the great mountain peaks. Trekking in Nepal can be undertaken throughout the year depending on the region.
Autumn (Sept-Nov) :
This is the time when you can expect better visibility, the air is fresh, and the weather is perfect. The best season offering excellent weather and tantalizing mountain views.
Winter (Dec-Feb) :
This season is noted for occasional snowfall and the air can be quite cold at higher elevations. Hence it is ideal for trekking at lower elevations, generally below 3000 meters.
Spring (March-May) :
Trekking in spring is particularly lovely as the mountain slopes are covered with beautiful and colorful flowers and still have plenty of high snow to enhance your photos. The temperature is quite moderate and the mountain views are excellent.
Summer (June-Aug) :
This is the favorite season to trek in the rain shadow areas like Upper Mustang, Dolpo and Kailash. This season is also recommended for forest researchers and botanist.
